The Public Facilities Department (PFD) provides professional project management services for design and construction projects at City-owned buildings throughout Boston. We work in conjunction with, and on behalf of user agencies, by managing renovation or new construction projects at buildings where City services are delivered. PFD manages a range of projects valued between $1M - $125M and typically handles an overall caseload between 80-100 projects valued at more than $500M annually.

Position Overview
The Collection Security Manager is responsible for the security of the Library’s extensive research and special collections in a wide variety of subjects and formats, including renowned collections of rare books, maps, prints, photographs, fine art, music, sculpture, manuscripts, and archives. Working closely with the staff from the Collections division, the Collection Security Manager will develop and oversee procedures and policies that are intended to deliver a secure and safe experience for patrons and staff, while ensuring exhibitions and collections are protected. Following the library’s mantra of “Free to All”, the Collection Security Manager with work with the Operations and Collections teams to balance security, access, and the user experience. This position will oversee the development of a security command center at the Central Library and work with management and security personnel to ensure the safety and preservation of the Library’s collections.
