The City of Boston is seeking a Director of ARPA Implementation to join the Finance Cabinet to lead the administration of this historic public funding. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer or designee of the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of ARPA Implementation is responsible for managing the spending and implementation of the $558.7 Million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) that have been allocated to the City of Boston. This position will oversee all ARPA-funded work streams, including housing, economic opportunity and inclusion, climate and mobility, equitable pandemic response, arts and culture, behavioral health, early childhood and evaluation and administration. This position will also work on other strategic initiatives as needed.

Under the direct supervision of Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives, the ORC Housing Specialist is responsible for: housing locator services for ORC clients that are selected for one of the Office’s new housing programs (e.g. BHA vouchers) as well as other clients on a case by case basis, creating and sustaining relationships with CORI-friendly landlords in Boston, and for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the housing projects/pilots funded by the ORC.
The Housing Specialist will work closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives & Policy to identify programmatic successes and challenges as well as key areas of policy or services intervention to improve returning citizens’ access to housing in the City of Boston. The City Auditor acts as the comptroller of the City, and serves as Ex-Officio Member of The Boston Retirement System.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This single position class is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of audit and compliance programs. The incumbent provides leadership for the development of policies and strategies to meet City’s compliance objectives. The incumbent ensures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, governmental auditing standards, and federal uniform guidelines. Responsibilities are broad in scope and involve highly sensitive and publicly visible projects that require a high degree of policy, program, and management discretion.
DESCRIPTION OF THE AUDITING DEPARTMENT
The Auditing Department prepares the City's annual financial statements, and reviews and processes all financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. The Department also implements fiscal controls over departmental spending, and provides technical assistance to City departments and agencies. The Department consists of accounting, central payroll, grants accounting, and accounts payables/contracts.
Under the direction of the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Worker Empowerment Cabinet, the Executive Director of the Office of Youth Employment & Opportunity (YEO) will oversee the mission, goal-setting, program design and delivery for both year-round and summer employment for the Mayor and the City of Boston. This position is a department head level, senior leader in the Mayor’s administration responsible for essential youth serving programs for the City of Boston.
The Executive Director will oversee, manage, develop, and expand major youth-serving initiatives that are core to the Mayor’s agenda to provide Boston’s youth with employment and training opportunities key to positioning them for career success. These programs include the Mayor’s school-year and summer jobs program which places thousands of Boston youth in jobs annually and makes grants to support over 100 nonprofits and programs. It also includes the Workforce and career development programs to ensure youth are developing skills necessary to be ready for future career and educational experiences.
Core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to engage city and community partners in the design and implementation of the employment programs (e.g. outreach, employer engagement and youth onboarding and hiring) manage a dynamic staff and volunteer team to document progress towards goal attainment, implement an effective and innovative outreach, marketing and communications plan to fully engage youth, community partners and employers, and evaluate the program for process improvement. The Executive Director will also develop and monitor budgets, grants and other funding sources for successful fiscal compliance.

Under the direction of the Manager of the Arts, the Curator of Prints is responsible for stewardship and management of the Boston Public Library’s large and diverse collection of
prints, drawings, and works on paper, spanning Old Master works through contemporary prints of the 21st century. Responsibilities include promoting the use, care, and servicing of the library’s print collection, including rare and unique print and manuscript material related to prints; researching and interpreting materials; providing specialized and complex reference services; and developing the print collection in support of the library’s collecting strategy and mission.
