THIS IS A TEMPORARY, GRANT FUNDED POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) YEARS. This is a provisional appointment. Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): The Boston Transportation Department (BTD) is seeking a highly motivated Transportation Program Planner to lead a community process for revitalization of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road, two of the City's most iconic and diverse boulevards. Reporting to and working directly with the Neighborhood Transportation Planning Director in BTD, the Corridor Planner works with local community groups, neighborhood institutions, local businesses, advocacy groups and public agencies to engage residents in a grassroots effort to design a neighborhood friendly street with facilities that encourage walking, bicycling, and reliable public transportation. The position requires familiarity with and experience in community outreach efforts including large-scale public workshops, open houses, neighborhood office hours, “pop-up” events, online platforms and other innovative modes with special emphasis  on establishing meaningful connections with populations historically underrepresented in planning processes. The selected candidate will be committed to public service and exhibit an interest for mobility planning and improving the quality of life of Boston's residents.
