The Director of Investigations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of investigations of housing discrimination and enforcement of local and federal laws governing the Fair Housing Commission. Performs this function to ensure that the Office effectively engages and serves residents, especially the most vulnerable, and advocates for fair housing and equity, to reach the Office’s mission: to address discrimination and ensure fair access to housing, public services, accommodations, and participation in activities for all people of Boston.

The Policy Development and Research team within MOH is responsible for data collection and analysis; policy and program reporting; research into housing policy best and emerging practices; policy development; and select policy implementation. Its objective is to inform data-driven affordable housing policy change to better serve the constituents of the City of Boston.
Reporting to the Deputy Director for Policy Development and Research (PDR), the Housing Policy Manager is primarily responsible for implementing affordable housing policy and programs, including developing and drafting policy administration guidance to support this work across staff; supervising at least two policy-oriented staff; and conducting research and engaging in policy development under the guidance of the Deputy Director. The balance of these responsibilities may vary at any given time, but the Policy Manager is expected to assume tasks pertaining to these work areas as needed. Current policy implementation efforts under the oversight of the Policy Manager include Boston’s Inclusionary Development Program (IDP), Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) Zoning, Artist Live/Work Housing, and the Condo Conversion Ordinance.

Reporting to the Archivist, the Archivist for Reference and Outreach manages the City Archives research services and outreach program. Responsibilities include administering research activities, policies, and procedures and planning, coordinating, and tracking all archival outreach activities, including special projects and collaborations.
