Under the supervision of the Trust Accounting and Investment Supervisor, the Principal Accountant will be responsible for analyzing, comparing, and interpreting financial data and statements.
● Maintaining and balancing trust accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
● Assist in the annual Trust audit.
● Maintain general ledgers, preparing trial balances, and reconciling entries.
● Summarizing financial statements and preparing balance sheets.
● Recording daily Trust fund cash flows, setting up payments, and sending transmittals to the bank.
● Run standard and custom reports, identify and correct variances as necessary.
● Review year-end financial statements.
● Processes checks for deposit and similar transactions, including e-deposit transactions.
● Assist with data entry and spreadsheets.
● Processes vendor payments.
● Performs related work as required.
● A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience in trust accounting is a plus.
● Strong knowledge of bank operations, financial transactions, financial record keeping, audits, and accounting functions.
● Comprehend general accounting principles and practices.
● Strong understanding of financial statements, reports, accounting ledgers, and journals.
● Perform detailed work accurately and promptly.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
● Experience in PeopleSoft.
● Ability to work in a diverse environment, communicate effectively with the remainder of the Treasury team.
● Capable of completing several projects simultaneously and working independently.
● Strong and effective communication skills.
