- Applicants must have at least four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience managing human resources or personnel issues
- An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Ability to review, analyze, and compare data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency to then draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations
- Technically savvy-proficient usage of Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office, and demonstrated ability and understanding to fully utilize HR systems, including the City of Boston’s HR/CMS
- Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity
- Understanding of and commitment to diversify and the importance of shaping and developing a positive inclusive, and supportive work culture
- Ability to supply excellent service to employees and always remaining professional and courteous in internal and external communications
- Strong time-management skills, ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively
- Ability to follow instructions and function effectively as a member of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear, concise, and prompt communications
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Prior government experience a plus
