Overview:

The Boston Energy Saver Manager will lead the implementation of the Boston Energy Saver, an innovative new program designed to help Bostonians lower their energy bills and fossil fuel use by connecting them with clean energy programs and resources. This position will develop, implement, and support projects, policies, and programs that reduce carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency and renewable energy, and provide support for building owners, residents, and small businesses. The Manager will engage with Boston residents, building owners, and other stakeholders to provide building decarbonization support and to connect them with resources. The Boston Energy Saver Manager will report to the Building Decarbonization Program Manager in the Environment Department and will work closely with other members of the Carbon Neutrality Team.

Mayor Wu's administration is committed to a Green New Deal for Boston by reducing planet-warming pollution while creating economic opportunities for everyone, especially those from environmental justice communities who often suffer the worst impacts of climate change. In her 2025 State of the City address, Mayor Wu announced the launch of the Boston Energy Saver, a partnership with Eversource, National Grid, and non-profit partners that will help Boston residents and small businesses access Mass Save® financial incentives and credits to upgrade their homes and energy systems and lower energy costs. Through the program, the City will help renters, homeowners, and business owners decide on the best investments to make in their homes and access the financial support available to pay for them, reducing their energy bills and improving building performance.

The Carbon Neutrality team in the Environment Department works to implement building decarbonization policies and programs, including the Boston Energy Saver, the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO 2.0), which sets carbon targets for medium- and large-sized buildings across Boston to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, and the Retrofit Resource Hub, which provides technical and financial resources to building owners and tenants.
