The City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) seeks a highly motivated candidate to serve as a Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant Program (RCPGP) Emergency Management Planner. This position is funded under the Department of Homeland Security’s RCPGP to enhance catastrophic preparedness in major urban areas. Boston OEM is partnering with the Providence Emergency Management Agency for the duration of the grant to build climate resilience, community resilience, and public information and warning capabilities in Boston, MA, and Providence, RI. Under the direction of the RCPGP Program Director, the Emergency Management Planner will assist in developing and delivering materials and facilitating activities to build community resilience to the impacts of natural and human-caused hazards, particularly among vulnerable populations. The position is currently funded for a two-year term, with continuation dependent on future grant awards.
OEM’s mission is to enhance the City's capacity to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from major emergencies. Working in close partnership with city departments, OEM plans and prepares for emergencies, educates the public about preparedness, conducts training, exercises, and drills, and performs other services to support preparedness. OEM follows an all-hazards approach, preparing for emergencies of various types, including natural or human-caused.
