Overview:

Under the general direction of the Parking Meter Operations Manager, the Parking Meter Operations Person II repairs, maintains, and performs routine cleaning on all single and multi-space parking meters. Collects revenue from parking meters located throughout the City of Boston. Digitally records and notifies supervisory staff of missing or nonsequential coin cans, malfunctioning meter mechanisms, meter housings, or damaged meters. Drives department vehicles to and from parking meter work sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs Collection of revenue from parking meters located throughout the City of Boston.
  • Records and notifies the supervisor of mission coin cans, malfunctioning meter mechanisms, and/or damaged meter.
  • Utilizes collection equipment or devices supplied by the Transportation Department to load/unload department vehicles, including but not limited to: collection canisters, carts, and meter equipment.
  • Repair and/or repaint damaged vandalized parking meters.
  • Performs intricate parking meter repairs, including the initialization and set-up of all parking meter applications and system software.
  • Performs parking meter post and base assembly inspections, removals, and installations.
  • Assists with preparing, maintaining, and installing all ParkBoston zone decal informational signage both on the street and back office applications.
  • Performs intricate single and multi-space parking meter repairs. Assembles include but are not limited to the initialization and set-up of all parking meter applications and system software.
  • Performs real-time electronic systems troubleshooting. Administers approved vendor support via landline, web self-service, software, and or on-site parking support to all parking meters within the City of Boston.
  • Performs testing of all current or new parking meter technology. This includes the installation and troubleshooting of all component-based software.
  • Maintains up-to-date technical knowledge of manufacturer’s specifications for the repair and operation of the City’s single and multi-space parking meters.
  • Maintains data files of all completed work.
  • Performs All Parking Meter related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Must have two (2) years of work experience in public or private sector performing related work.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license.
  •  Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

 

Shift: MON-FRI 6:30 AM-3:00 PM


Boston Residency Required.
