Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

 

Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for all components of screening, processing, and programming Boston Police Department-issued ID’s for contractors as well as new and existing employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and updates Comnetix data (using personnel orders); picture taking; fingerprinting, running, and reviewing the BOP’s using the CJIS system.
  • Coordinates drug testing, printing ID’s, and programming ID’s.
  • Prepares routine audits for all employees whose photo ID is older than three (3) years old.
  • Prepares routine audits for all active contractors with access.
  • De-programs and collects ID’s upon termination, resignation or retirement.
  • Performs CJIS Offline Requests through the Office of Internal Affairs and/or Anti-Corruption.
  • Processes the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ID's for active/inactive sworn members of the department.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional or technical experience in database management, data reporting, or related field; working knowledge of personal computers and various software packages.
  • Two (2) years may be substituted with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience fingerprinting, using Comnetix, or using the CJIS system. 
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and is strongly preferred. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
