Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Senior Personnel Officer performs a variety of duties, including but not limited to general administrative personnel and payroll functions for the Human Resources Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the first point of contact for the Human Resources unit. 
  • Prepares correspondence, answers phones, and responds to the general public and electronic inquiries.
  • Prepares and processes various transactions and electronic forms relating to personnel actions, including but not limited to New hires, transfers, terminations, employee status changes, personnel orders, and budget amendments.
  • Prepares and processes payroll, and related transactions, including but limited to Payroll adjustments, absence management and timekeeping, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation and administration of leave accrual buy-back programs and buyouts upon separation from the department.
  • Responsible for managing various Payroll and Personnel databases, including Leave of absence tracking, Time and Attendance, and absence management, etc.
  • Prepares and disseminates attendance records and entitlement information.
  • Researches adjustments for sick, vacation, prior service, and personal leave balances, as needed.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties for research and special projects.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or related office work.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required.
  • Strong word processing and database skills are preferred. 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, interpersonal, and teamwork skills preferred. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

 

Criminal background check (CORI/SORI) is required.
