Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

Under the direction of the Director/Inspector of Buildings for the Building & Structures Division of the Inspectional Services Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting clients and staff relating to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates data and prepares reports required on a timely basis including monthly reports for the Division.
  • Assists clients and staff relating to the Hansen System and other divisional needs.
  • Works with the inspectors on various administrative tasks..
  • Orders supplies as well as submits requisitions for educational material and tools relating to the division.
  • Assists in the general administration of programs for the Building & Structures Division including: setting up data bases, data entry, mailing correspondence, & providing status reports to management.
  • Significant problem solving responsibilities relative to constituent services.
  • Interacts verbally and in writing with the public and State and Federal agencies.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have a least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part time, professional administrative experience in office or business administration, in which the major duties included one or more of the following functions: office management, records management, purchasing or personnel administration or any equivalent combination of the required experience and educational substitutions.
  • Experience in the Window Office package, including Word, Access and Excel strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written skills preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the position.

 

Boston Residency Required.
