Overview:

The mission of the Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) is to make Boston a more equitable and inclusive city where all residents can thrive. MOH administers programs that create and preserve affordable housing, support homeowners and renters, provide housing and services to homeless individuals and families, and develop City-owned property. MOH seeks to carry out its mission through a lens of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion and addressing the effects of systemic racism in our city.


Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director for Compliance or designee, the Compliance Monitor will be responsible for performing monitoring tasks and developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure that MOH programs are in compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes the long-term monitoring of rental and homeownership loan and grant programs.
  • Corresponds with and reviews documents from property managers and homeowners.
  • Maintains ownership and rental databases and physical files.
  • Monitors HOME Investment Partnership rental and ownership units in conformance with the HOME Monitoring Plan.
  • Performs eligibility and environmental reviews of MOH projects and beneficiaries.
  • Maintains an understanding of the current policies and regulations governing MOH programs.
  • Prepares grant performance reports.
  • Assists in responding to audit requests and recommends audit responses.
  • Assists in ensuring that all grant recordkeeping requirements are met.
  • Interacts with MOH program staff, constituents, and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of experience in compliance monitoring, property management, real estate, community development, project management, or a related field.
  • Appropriate educational substitutions may be made. A bachelor's degree may account for two (2) years of experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs and regulations preferred.
  • Prior experience in a public agency is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

 

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED

 

Terms:

Union/Salary Plan/Grade: SEIU/N-20

Hours per week: 35
