Reporting to the Director of Operations for the Boston Transportation Department or designee, the Operations Manager is responsible for the supervision of the Boston Transportation Department's (BTD) operational units at 12 Channel, including the Sign Shop, Traffic Signal Shop, and Pavement Markings Unit.
The Operations Manager coordinates the operation, maintenance, and repair of traffic and curbside regulation signs, delineators, traffic signals, and associated infrastructure and pavement markings. The Operations Manager coordinates with the Supervising Traffic Engineer for Asset Management to ensure work activities are completed in a safe, equitable, and efficient manner and in accordance with laws and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Traffic Rules and Regulations, ordinances, and municipal codes for the City of Boston. The Operations Manager will work with the BTD Commissioner, Director of Operations, Director of Engineering, Parking Clerk, and leadership within BTD, Public Works, and the Streets Cabinet to implement a shared mission of operating a safe, equitable, multimodal transportation system designed to reduce overreliance on single-occupancy vehicles and implement policies and procedures that reflect the City's values of inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability.
