Overview:

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Parking Enforcement of their designee, performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical functions requiring a high degree of knowledge of functions and decision–making within the department's Enforcement Abandoned Vehicles Division.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the assistant supervisor of parking enforcement with all aspects of processing the paperwork for abandoned vehicles and abandoned bicycles.
  • Assists in photographing both the abandoned vehicles and or bicycles, as well as verifying the information on the AVR slip (Abandoned vehicle report) example, VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) make, color, and inspection sticker to make sure all information is correct, and make corrections if needed to the AVR slips and bicycle slips as needed to help correctly identify the motor vehicle or bicycle and ensure proper reporting.
  • In the absence of the ASPE generates, reviews, and distributes the weekly prelist.
  • Assists in handling 311 complaints on Abandoned Vehicles and Abandoned Bicycles. Will assist in all aspects of processing abandoned vehicles and bicycle paperwork by entering all related information from the Abandoned Vehicle Report (AVR) into the abandoned vehicle system and closing 311 cases.
  • Assists in the Systems and internal office area when there are no abandoned vehicles or bicycles to process, such as entering processing towed vehicles into E-Tim’s, BPD towing system, and processing payments (Cashiering) to release vehicles or processing ticket payments.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have at least (3) three years of full-time or equivalent part-time office experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
  • Some knowledge of motor vehicles is preferred. Must have general knowledge of vehicle operation and vehicle terminology.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Massachusetts Driver’s License preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
