This is a labor service position.  

 

Makes collections of revenue from parking meters located throughout the City of Boston.

Responsibilities:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

  • Records and notifies supervisors of missing coin cans, malfunctioning meter mechanisms, or damaged meters.  
  • Uses collection equipment or devices supplied by the Transportation Department.
  • Loads and unloads department vehicles, including but not limited to collection canisters, carts, and meter equipment.  
  • Removes, replaces, and repairs damaged or vandalized meters; paints meters and poles; stencils meter numbers; records completed parking meter repair work; drives department vehicles to and from work sites; and assists in the installation of new poles and meters.  
  • Does bench repair work in the shop and assists in the unloading of all materials delivered to the shop.  
  • May be assigned duties in keeping a clean and orderly shop.
  • Performs related duties as required

Required to work any and all emergencies as directed by the Commissioner of Transportation or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) year experience in related work in the private or public sector is required.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

  • Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Must provide a copy of current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operators License, Class D.
