Overview:

This is a provisional appointment. 

 

Brief Job Description:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Architecture and Engineering, the Review Architect II is primarily responsible for the timely and professional review of drawings, specifications, estimates, programs and studies at various stages of projects, establishing design standards and consulting on highly sensitive design projects as directed. 

Responsibilities:

  • Clear, effective communication and close coordination with project managers, architects, engineers, consultants, regulating agencies, and users.
  • Secondary responsibilities include preparing scopes of work, monitoring design changes, participating in designer selection, helping to establish project schedules and budgets, and assisting in the capital planning process.
  • The Senior Review Architect will occasionally prepare programs and studies and manage special projects that require her/his particular expertise.
  • Performs related work as required. 

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least six (6) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, related experience as a practicing professional architect, of which one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity. 
  • Experience with budgeting and scheduling of the design process is preferred
  • Architectural registration in Massachusetts is required. 
  • Ability to work with diverse clients.
  • Well-developed communication skills, computer skills, analytical expertise, and excellent writing skills are strongly preferred. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with design, construction, and contract practices, MA building code, general/sub-contractor relations, trade customs, MA construction statutes, MGL Ch.149, and regulations preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Appropriate education substitutions may be made.
