Brief Job Description:
Under the direction of the Chief Power Plant Engineer, the Senior Maintenance Mechanic (Building Systems) will perform a variety of complex and technical work to maintain building systems for all City-owned buildings and locations under the care and custody of the Property Management Department, including heating and cooling, be responsible for an entire shift or a specific building on that shift, and provide front-line troubleshooting of issues as they arise.
The mission of the City of Boston Property Management Department (PMD) is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings, including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.
The Senior Maintenance Mechanic (Building Systems) is responsible for operating equipment in a power plant operating at less than 15 psi, general repairs to and troubleshooting of heating and cooling equipment, addressing work orders related to this equipment, and coordinating with HVAC technicians, Elevator Technicians, Fire and Life Safety Technicians, Generator Technicians, and other trades to ensure the smooth and constant operation of critical building systems :
