Overview:

Under the direction of the Director of Graffiti Removal and Special Projects (Executive Assistant - Graffiti), the Graffiti Removal Program Analyst will monitor incoming and pending removal cases, triage requests for removal, manage the graffiti removal team's workload and resource allocation, create dashboards, spreadsheets, and other monitoring tools to enable efficient graffiti removal and conduct analysis of trends in graffiti across the City to enable more effective deployment of removal resources. 

 

The City of Boston Property Management Department's (PMD) mission is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings, including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors incoming and pending removal cases, determining the best way to allocate resources for effective removal - such as creating daily case sheets for removal crews, developing removal routes, and confirming the presence of graffiti via uploaded photos.
  • Provides information to the Director to allow effective supervision of the graffiti removal crew and efficient management of the City of Boston graffiti removal program.
  • Triages graffiti removal cases in order of importance and reviews them with the Director to determine the priority and timeline for removal.
  • Communicates with requesters and constituents to determine accurate graffiti locations, the types of surfaces affected, and paint colors required, identify property ownership, and manage constituent expectations.
  • Obtains graffiti removal waivers from property owners and catalogs them according to the relevant case and parcel numbers.
  • Designs, develops, implements, and maintains reports, analyses, dashboards, and metrics to support the targeted removal of graffiti across the City and inform the Director how best to deploy staff, equipment, and resources.
  • Analyzes trends in graffiti complaints and graffiti removal - providing critical data and recommendations for how to remove graffiti and respond to constituent complaints and reports more effectively.
  • Prepares reports, memoranda, presentations, and dashboards for senior Department and City leadership that demonstrate the Department’s efforts and effectiveness in removing graffiti.
  • Works with the Department of Innovation and Technology and Boston 311 to refine 311 case routing, address technology or workflow issues, and improve the constituent experience as it relates to reporting graffiti in the City of Boston.
  • Trains Graffiti Removal Technicians to interpret and execute daily case sheets, reports, dashboards, and other tools.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, public policy or administration, economics, computer science, or another STEM field is preferred and may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in business or public administration, program analysis, or a related field in work that included data analysis, reporting, dashboarding, mapping, and visualization.
  • Experience in a government setting preferred.
  • Experience in manipulating data in spreadsheet format and organizing data for quick and informed consumption and decision-making.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Data Analytics platforms such as Microsoft Power BI preferred.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and focus on details as required by the job.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills.
