Overview:

Responsible for managing the Creative Aging Program (CAP) projects, including, meeting/event planning and execution, partnership management, training coordination, and management of project progression, reporting and evaluation. The Creative Aging Program Manager position reports to the Director of Events and Programs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Creative Aging Program (CAP) and develop a system for program sustainability including the engagement and management of program partners. 
  • Manage all tasks related to CAP program documentation and expansion including but not limited to evaluation projects, program progress reports, surveys, and all CAP evaluations. 
  • Manage Age Strong’s partnership role in a large-scale, multi-year demonstration project - a creative aging initiative for diverse older adults living in Boston that will demonstrate the role of the creative arts in improving their health and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Plan and coordinate quarterly series of CAP classes (virtual and/or in-person). Manage all logistics including class series, trainings, workshops and related events.
  • Manage all special projects related to the Creative Aging program.
  • Manage program data, reports, and evaluation of effectiveness and impact. Offer recommendations for program improvements.
  • Liaise between program partners by coordinating regular meetings, managing reporting expectations and impact evaluation. 
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of CAP trainings; recruit participants (teaching artists and external community organizations) planning all logistics.
  • Manage CAP Mini Grants program; draft grant requirements, review proposals and recommend recipients. 
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records of teaching artist database, projects, budgets, payments, and timelines.
  • Responsible for data collection and documentation of CAP classes, programs and events.
  • Draft communications with various involved parties internally and externally. 
  • Supervise program volunteers and/or interns.
  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience in program management, event planning, with performing or visual arts teaching and/or teaching assistant or comparable experience.
  • Associate’s degree may count for up to one (1) year of required experience, a bachelor's degree may count for up to two (2) years of required experience.
  • Experience working with teaching artists, class and program development and implementation.
  • Culturally competent with experience and comfortability delivering services to a multiracial, multicultural and multilingual population. 
  • Passion and experience working with older adults and the arts preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Proven logistical coordination skills preferred. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Strong problem solving ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both in person and by phone.
  • Strong customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
  • Self-starter with strong time management ability.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise and comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to give team feedback.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic. 
  • Experience working in collaborative work environments.  
  • Familiarity with City government and teaching artist programs preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Boston neighborhoods and a history of civic engagement preferred.
  • Demonstrates proper use of databases, and data management tools.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Travel within Boston will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities. 
  • Ability to comply with document policies and procedures.
  • Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cabo Verdean Creole, Vietnamese, Cantonese, or Mandarin) are highly preferred.
