The Boston Public Library seeks to hire a Peer Navigator Supervisor to oversee the service delivery of the Peer Navigator program within the Social Work Department. The Peer Navigator program is an initiative to provide peer support to library patrons experiencing hardship related to hunger, housing instability, substance use, and mental health. The BPL defines “Peer Navigators” as people who have lived experience accessing care through social service systems and who apply the knowledge and insights gained from lived experience to connect with library patrons facing similar challenges.
Under the direction of the Cataloging and Processing Manager, provides supervision, cataloging training, and bibliographic database quality control to ensure accurate and efficient discoverability and location of the library’s holdings via the online catalog and other publicly accessible databases. Supervises advanced cataloging functions across all library materials (both physical and electronic), including original cataloging, file loading, and database maintenance work within the Cataloging and Processing department. Reporting to the Tree Maintenance Foreperson or General Tree Maintenance Foreperson, or a designee, the Tree Equipment Operator and Laborer (TEOL) will perform tasks related to the planting, removal, maintenance, and care of trees using hand and power tools, and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Duties include planting, pruning, and removing trees and branches. He/she will also use climbing gear and equipment to climb trees with chainsaws, hand saws, and tree trimmers to complete jobs. This is labor-intensive work and requires strong communication skills to safely work with all crew members at the various job sites throughout the City of Boston.
