Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
The Boston Transportation Department is seeking a New Mobility Program Manager to oversee the implementation of programs to support emerging multimodal travel and goods delivery services, manage curb zone use to enhance equity by prioritizing access for people over vehicle access, incorporate on-demand/technology-based mobility solutions appropriately, develop consistent curb parking policies citywide, and take steps to provide electric vehicle drivers with convenient and safe places to charge. Addressing the needs of underserved communities will be prioritized.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Planning in the Streets Cabinet or designee, the New Mobility Program Manager leads a team of planners to develop overall policy, work closely with the parking clerk, operations and engineering divisions to develop new parking regulations, collaborate with advocacy and neighborhood groups, and establish partnerships with private transportation services providers. The New Mobility Program Manager will supervise a team of 3-5 direct-report staff.
The selected candidate will have proven skills that include the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of public agencies, private consultants, and community groups. Ideal candidates must have a strong understanding of on-demand technology-based mobility and a track record of working with emerging technologies and business models to further the public interest.
