Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
The Boston Transportation Department is seeking a Transit Planner to support the implementation of public transportation projects with a focus on improving bus service to increase transit ridership and reduce emissions.
Reporting to the Commissioner or designee, the Transit Planner is part of the Transit Team consisting of planners, engineers, and field staff whose responsibilities include developing overall policy, collaborating with advocacy and neighborhood groups, and working with city and state agencies to advance Boston’s public transportation agenda.
The Transit Planner addresses a variety of concerns about transportation’s interface with urban design and the public realm and envisions and implements cutting-edge initiatives in a changing transportation environment where needs, resources, and opportunities vary enormously.
