Overview:

This is a provisional appointment. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the housing management team in the daily supervision of housing inspectors.
  • Assists in the implementation of the State Sanitary Code and City Ordinances.
  • Assists and coordinates daily work for Housing Inspectors.
  • Schedules and conducts audit inspections and conducts chronic offender hearings.
  • Conducts staff training.
  • Supports field personnel in the implementation of housing codes and city ordinances.
  • Assists in conducting educational seminars for the general public.
  • Reviews job performance of field personnel.
  • Performs related work as required. 

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in inspectional housing procedures or a closely related field is required.
  • A degree in social work, public administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a City of Boston Constable's License.
  • Considerable knowledge of Articles 1, 2, and 11, title 5 of State Sanitary Code.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts driver's license, and access to a vehicle is required.
  • A multi-lingual candidate is preferred but not required.
  • CORI check required.
  • Applicants meeting the minimum entrance qualifications will be considered for this position.
