Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
The Major Projects Coordinator assists in the implementation of system-wide improvements and initiatives organized as major and/or capital projects of the Boston Public Library, ensuring projects and initiatives are aligned with the vision and strategic plans of the Boston Public Library, state-of-the-art thinking about the future of library services and current best practices in the field of public library services with a particular focus on both space - layout and design. This role is part of the library project management office and coordinates project activities in conjunction with Library management, City of Boston colleagues, and other stakeholders as assigned. This individual also acts as the project manager on a number of system-wide projects. Day-to-day duties involve coordination of complex projects involving multiple areas of library operations and services, responsibility for guiding major capital projects, and operating initiatives. Key skills include facility renovation, design and construction management, project management, communication, and an appreciation of public libraries.
