Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Under the general direction of the Head Assistant Registrar, the Absentee/Early Voting Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Absentee, Confidential, Specially Qualified, and Early Voting programs. Also assists with the planning, execution, and marketing of said programs. Assists in the supervision of all administrative services of the department, including but not limited to, voter registrations, annual listing, nomination process, and processing of initiative petitions.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises Principal, Senior, and Assistant Registrars of Voters.
  • Ensures sufficient staff coverage is maintained at all times to provide responsive services at the front counter, over the telephone, through electronic mail and regular mail.
  • Assigns tasks to subordinates and temporary employees, and reviews assignments for accuracy and timely completion.
  • Conducts staff training and periodic performance evaluations as needed or required.
  • Assists and encourages staff members to develop and implement innovative approaches to work assignments.
  • Assists the Head Assistant Registrar in meeting all goals, procedures, and protocols required by law, as well as those established by the Department Head.
  • Conducts training for Poll Workers and outreach personnel from partnering agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as needed.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least two (2) years of full time, or equivalent part time, professional or technical experience in management, administration, and workflow simplification.
  • Thorough knowledge of election laws preferred.
  • Computer and data processing proficiency required.
  • Familiarity with the state VRIS system is preferred.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and communicate effectively with staff and the general public.
  • Able to work additional hours or flexible shifts as necessary.
