Boston Urban Wilds (UW) are nature parks distinct from traditional urban parks and playgrounds. They include many ecologically sensitive natural areas such as coastal marsh pathways, woodland trails, river path corridors, scenic rocky summit vistas, and meadow footpaths. Unlike traditional urban parks and playgrounds, they require a more varied and specialized skill set.
Reporting to the Urban Wilds Foreperson; or a designee, the Urban Wild’s Tree Equipment Operator (TEO) will perform tasks related to the planting, removal, maintenance, and care of trees using hand and power tools and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Duties include planting, pruning, and removing trees and branches. They will use chainsaws, hand saws, and tree trimmers to complete jobs. This is labor-intensive work and requires strong communication skills to safely work with all crew members at the various job sites throughout the City of Boston.
