Overview:

This is a Labor Service position.

 

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Under supervision, operates light and medium automotive and other motor equipment not requiring special skills. Operates a passenger car, station wagon, half-ton pick up truck, three-quarter ton panel truck or other types of trucks having a requirement of a Class II License by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • The operation of heavy vehicles will be required and various types of motorized grass and weed cutters.
  • Loads and unloads trucks; transports people, material and equipment to and from work; performs manual labor work when not operating vehicles.
  • Makes adjustments and minor repairs to motor equipment; changes tires, oil and battery.
  • When not operating shall perform any duties of Public Works Laborer.
  • Performs related work as required.

 

Must work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgment and be able to focus on detail as required by the job.

 

Boston Residency Required

 

Terms:

Union/Salary Plan/Grade:  AFSCME/RA1-7L

Hours per week:  40
