Under the supervision of the Director of Carbon Neutrality, the Carbon Neutrality Project Manager develops and implement policies and programs to equitably increase energy efficiency and decarbonization in buildings across Boston, including:
- Development of policies and programs that reduce carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency and renewable energy.
- Providing support for building owners, residents and small businesses to ensure access to decarbonization and renewable energy programs for all Bostonians.
- Coordination with the Mass Save program and other relevant state and federal energy incentive programs.
- Engagement with community organizations and constituents to ensure that programs are designed and implemented equitably.
- Implementation of the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO) and other building decarbonization policies.
- Becomes thoroughly familiar with the City of Boston's climate and sustainability goals and the City’s administrative structure, programs, and staff responsibilities for climate action.
- Stays current with scientific, green building and clean technology developments, and relevant state and federal policies and programs, and conveys them in practical terms to stakeholders.
- Supports implementation of the City’s greenhouse gas mitigation plans and other environmental programs, in particular by supporting the development and implementation of building sector policies and regulations.
- Supports projects that cross multiple disciplines (e.g. material reuse and embodied carbon, resilience and deep energy retrofits).
- Leads innovative community outreach and engagement around sustainability, climate action, and decarbonization.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative partnerships with neighborhood, non-profit, business, and institutional groups to ensure that all parts of the Boston community are engaged in the development and implementation of building sector policies.
- Works with City agencies to expand the integration of climate and environmental action in their activities and develop resources for residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to take action.
- Performs related work as required.
