THIS IS A TEMPORARY GRANT-FUNDED POSITION.
The Boston Safe and Successful Youth Initiative (SSYI) is a multidisciplinary, comprehensive service delivery strategy to enhance the quality of life of youth who are the most at risk of being victims or perpetrators of gun violence. SSYI uses a well-developed data analysis system based on criminal history, network analysis and intelligence to look for individuals who present the greatest risk for gun violence and/or victimization.
The Boston Police Department has received a grant from the MA Executive Office of Health and Human Service to hire a full-time Crime Analyst to work within the Boston Police Department’s Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC).
Under the supervision of the Director of the BRIC, the Crime Analyst will be assigned analytic responsibilities in support of the SSYI model, to include analyzing crime data, coordinating information-sharing activities and managing data systems. The Crime Analyst will also be required to attend law enforcement and service providers meetings to improve communication and collaboration; contribute to the production of crime and intelligence analysis reports and briefings specific to the SSYI initiative; manage the secure, web-based platform used to facilitate collaboration across agencies, recording important information on individuals, and encouraging mutual accountability; present to stakeholders on analytic findings; and participate in discussions at meetings focused on prolific criminal offenders.
