The Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) strives to strengthen the ability of immigrants to fully and equitably participate in the economic, civic, social, and cultural life in Boston. MOIA also promotes the recognition and public understanding of the contributions of immigrants to the City. The Immigrant Youth Organizer, under the Civic Engagement Coordinator's guidance, supports the Immigrant Youth Advancement Program (formerly “Dreamers Fellowship”) to provide equitable and engaging work experience opportunities for immigrant youth aged 14-24, regardless of their immigration status.
Community Organizing: Community organizing is the practice of identifying and developing leaders to create spaces for them to engage with local stakeholders to advance local issues of concern. Organizers can build relationships with impacted community members and serve as mentors to guide them through civic endeavors, tactics, and techniques that provide a voice for historically underrepresented communities. This role in particular focuses on immigrant youth in the City of Boston.
