Overview:

This is a provisional appointment. Under general supervision, the Head Clerk & Secretary will perform clerical and administrative work of moderate difficulty in the Family Justice Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing all administrative functions related to the efficient operation of the office.
  • Assigning cases to detectives citywide; preparing agendas for meetings, directives and confidential reports; typing correspondence; scheduling.
  • Processing travel expenditures; handling payroll;  telephone duties; data entry; maintaining files; and related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, paid administrative support experience in an office environment. 
  • A minimum of 35 words per minute is required.  Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. 
  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access are strongly preferred.
  • It is strongly preferred that applicants have experience handling highly confidential information in an office setting.


A CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK WILL BE CONDUCTED ON ALL APPLICANTS.
A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TEST IS REQUIRED.
BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
