Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

The Office of Returning Citizens’ Chief of Staff is responsible for improving the office's productivity and managing progress toward goals. The Chief of Staff performs a variety of advanced professional duties and analytical projects for the Executive Director; relieves the Executive Director of administrative detail; serves as a project manager to priority initiatives; Represents the Executive Director at internal and external meetings as needed.

Responsibilities:

Duties are performed under the general direction of the Executive Director. As the principal aide to the Executive Director handles a wide range of projects and departmental matters of importance, including:

  • Leads various strategic initiatives including ORC’s identified priorities, and special projects.
  • Supervises and provides day-to-day support and guidance to Office staff to ensure that the ORC team is delivering on the mission of the Office.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of organizational policies, protocols and procedures in every aspect of the Office.
  • Serves as the Executive Director’s liaison with internal and external partners to ensure the accurate and timely flow of information.
  • Works with the Executive Director and ORC team on systemic efficiencies, strategy development and organizational coordination.
  • Prepares and/or contributes to preparing reports, briefings, presentations, and responses on institutional and strategic issues, as appropriate.
  • Supervises projects on behalf of the Executive Director.
  • Works in a confidential capacity with the Executive Director.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable years of experience.
  • Ability to perform complex tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and various stakeholders.
  • Innovative thinking with a results-focused work ethic.
  • Commitment to the mission of ORC and service to all Boston residents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, and Google Suite.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

Boston Residency Required

C.O.R.I. and S.O.R.I. checks required.
