Overview:

The mission of the City of Boston Property Management Department (PMD) is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.

 

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Under the direction of the Director of Alterations and Repair, the Mechanical Equipment Repairperson Foreperson will supervise all trade and non­trade repair crew in the repair and maintenance of Property Management Department buildings.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists crew in performance of all renovation and repair duties.
  • Prepares estimates of construction time, materials, and costs.
  • Purchases materials.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in carpentry, locksmithing, and various building trades.
  • Knowledge and experience with various types of construction tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts state and Boston city building codes.
  • Ability to work from general information, drawings, and specs in order to perform demolition and construction in a viable and safe manner.
