This is a provisional appointment.

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

Under the direction of the Lighting Section Engineer(s), the Supv-Street Lighting is responsible for the performance of street lighting crews engaged in the installation, relocation, operation and maintenance of street lighting and related electrical equipment on roadways, underpasses and bridges in the city of Boston.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigates and makes written reports on the needs of the City for additional or improved street lighting services, including complaints or requests received concerning same.
  • Complies with and enforces all relevant present and future federal/state/city regulations.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required to work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have at least three (3) years of full time, or equivalent part-time, paid experience in electrical maintenance of which at least one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

Boston Residency Required

Terms:
