Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

 

The City of Boston, Department of Innovation and Technology  (DoIT), is seeking to hire an Endpoint Administrator. This role supports configuration management technology platforms and processes for management of devices across a broad and complex multi-domain endpoint environment to improve efficiency, security, and end user experience as well as standardize configuration to provide a consistent yet agile ecosystem. This role supports solutions and applications for modern management of endpoints (e.g., Windows and Mac workstations, mobile devices) and other devices as applicable. This role will implement and maintain efficient/automated client support systems (e.g., device management, OS & application security updates, automated application installations, remote support systems). The Endpoint Administrator position will install, configure, test, and maintain endpoint system management tools. This role will report to the Senior Endpoint Administrator.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the administration of Endpoint Management Systems and MDM Solutions for Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Support platform software upgrades, workstation patching/compliance, and application delivery.
  • Interface, as needed, with third-party vendors and contractors to implement and support technology systems.
  • Support the configuration and troubleshooting of Windows/Mac operating systems.
  • Engage in the continuous improvement of endpoint administration including automation, monitoring, patching, etc. by applying industry standards and best practices.
  • Utilize and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and tools.
  • Communicate with leadership and other staff regarding initiatives and provide timely updates.
  • Document, implement, and adapt procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Perform Tier II/III troubleshooting of issues pertaining to client workstation systems
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in information technology or cybersecurity.
  • Certifications in either A+, Security+/Network+, OS, Azure, Intune and/or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager are preferred.
  • Experience in endpoint management technology such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Autopilot, Google MDM, JAMF and Tanium.
  • Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Windows/Mac operating systems.
  • Some experience managing, developing, and implementing enterprise endpoint management policies and compliance activities.
  • Proven ability to work with other teams to create and document new processes and procedures to meet security and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to leverage best practices and lessons learned of external organizations and academic institutions for improving endpoint management.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. 

 

The DoIT (Department of Innovation and Technology) team makes sure the networks, computers, and systems that support the City are secure and effective.
