Brief Job Descrtiption (essential functions of the job):
The Boston Transportation Department (BTD) is seeking a highly motivated Vision Zero/Active Transportation Planner to work on projects that will realize the City's vision to create streets and public spaces that are vibrant, multi-modal, resilient, and technologically advanced. The selected individual will work to lower the number of fatal and serious crashes on Boston's roadways and increase the number of people bicycling and walking in the City. Reporting to the Commissioner or designee, and as part of the Vision Zero Priorities Team, the Vision Zero/Active Transportation Planner addresses a variety of concerns about transportation's interface with urban design and the public realm and envisions and implements cutting-edge initiatives in a changing transportation environment where needs, resources, and opportunities vary enormously.
