The mission of the Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) is to make Boston a more equitable and inclusive city where all residents can thrive. MOH oversees programs that create and preserve affordable housing, support homeowners and renters, provide housing and services to homeless individuals and families, and develop city-owned property. The Boston Home Center (BHC) helps Boston residents purchase, improve, and keep their homes. The BHC offers training, financial help and counseling to first-time homebuyers, guidance and funding for homeowners for home improvements, and counseling to help families avoid foreclosure. The BHC also markets homes developed for income-eligible, firsttime homebuyers.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director or designee, the Program Assistant will provide administrative services to BHC’s programs, projects, and operations. The Program Assistant will divide their time between the BHC’s main location (currently 43 Hawkins Street) and BHC’s 26 Central Avenue, Hyde Park office.
• Provides administrative and program support to the Deputy Director, Operations Manager, the Homebuyer Assistance Unit and the Homeowner Services Unit, including the Lead Safe Program.
• Provides assistance with processing all project and program applications, including Loops clearances and resolutions of delinquencies.
• Maintains program, contractor and developer information, databases, and mailing lists.
• Assists in preparation of requests for proposals, contracts, and all program service orders, etc.
• Coordinates and compiles data for reports and requests for information.
• Processes and tracks payments and invoices.
• Helps organize meetings, BHC events and assists in coordinating marketing efforts of BHC programs.
• Provides appropriate information to clients and contractors.
• Performs related work as required
• At least two (2) years administrative experience required preferably experience in public administration.
• Familiarity with construction and lead abatement federal, state, and City of Boston policies and practices preferred.
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, organizational and follow-up skills.
• Ability to attend to detail and initiate special projects of moderate complexity with minimum supervision.
• Ability to manage several projects at once.
• Proficiency with computer based office software, such as MS Office (Word, Excel and Access), Salesforce, Peoplesoft, and working knowledge of desk top, mobile and web based platforms preferred.
• Appropriate educational substitutions may be made.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
• Fluency in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred.
