Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

The Mayor’s Office of Early Childhood (OEC) seeks a Child Care Housing Manager. Under the direction of the Director of the Office of Early Childhood (OEC), the Child Care Housing Manager is responsible for managing family friendly community development projects and supporting the expansion of family child care including but not limited to affordable housing.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Office of Early Childhood, the Child Care Housing Manager is responsible for managing a variety of projects that support family friendly developments and expanding family child care.
  • Develops guidelines that identify barriers and benefits, addresses misconceptions and highlights opportunities to support the expansion of Family Child Care in affordable housing.
  • Coordinates special projects as requested by the Director, including those related to policy issues and external communications.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Office of Early Childhood and other Administration officials and external stakeholders.
  • Performs related duties as needed.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in childcare, early childhood or affordable housing including two years in a program management or project management capacity. A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Chinese and Vietnamese).
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations for affordable housing and community development programs and resources, preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and Google Suite.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize the most important and pressing work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an orientation toward culturally-relevant communication.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and other departmental staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on details as required by the job.
  • Excellent judgment, integrity and character, and ability to exercise discretion with sensitive information.
  • Commitment to OEC's Mission.
  • Boston residency required.
