Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

The Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion is seeking an intern to assist the team on projects relating to the City’s Economic Opportunity and Inclusion initiatives. Interns have the opportunity to work with city government leaders in promoting economic growth across the City of Boston.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts research on economic development trends and available resources in the City of Boston.
  • Assists the Economic team in the development of office presentations and related materials.
  • Makes recommendations to Chief Barros and other city officials to promote economic development in Boston.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Economic Research and Policy to analyze current City of Boston economic development policies.
  • Conducts research on historical City of Boston small and local business data collection.
  • Presents the narrative of the current status of small and local businesses in the City of Boston to inform City procurement decisions.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Interest in learning about the impacts government can have on encouraging economic growth
  • Enthusiasm for public service and municipal government
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments

 

TERMS:

Union/Salary Plan/Grade: NonUnion/$35.00 per hour

Hours per week: 10 per week for 16 weeks
