Brief Job Description:
In response to the findings from the 2022 Urban Forest Plan, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department (BPRD) has established a new Forestry Division with the goal of better maintaining and increasing tree canopy in the City of Boston. Under the supervision of the Director of Urban Forestry and the Tree Warden, the Logistics Manager (GIS) will perform GIS-based asset and maintenance tracking, as well as work planning and coordination for Arborists and work crews. This role requires training and experience with GIS, preparing preventative and deferred maintenance schedules, coordinating emergency response efforts during and after storm events and communicating with contractors. Assembly of written, oral and graphic communications will also be required.
The Logistics Manager (GIS) collects data from staff in the field, integrates data into the relevant databases, synthesizes the data, creates GIS-based maps, and drafts reports and plans for the BPRD Forestry Division, with the goal of supporting and growing Boston’s tree canopy.
