Overview:

This is a full-time, benefited grant-funded position expected to expire on December 31, 2026.

 

The mission of the Mayor’s Office of Housing (MOH) is to make Boston the most livable city in the nation by working with communities to build strong neighborhoods through the strategic investment of public resources.  MOH oversees programs that create and preserve affordable housing, support homeowners and renters, provide housing and services to homeless individuals and families, and dispose of city-owned property.  MOH has an annual budget of approximately $125 million from various City, State, and Federal sources.

 

Brief Job Description:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Controller or designee within the Administration and Finance Division, the Senior Account Specialist will perform functions relating to revenue collection and maintenance of the Department’s accounting records.  

Responsibilities:

  • Process the drawdown of federal grant revenue from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant management systems, including the Integrated Disbursement and Information System (IDIS) and Line of Credit Control System (eLOCCS).
  • Prepare grant drawdown requests and cash receipt forms.
  • Perform reconciliation of the Department’s financial records with the City’s PeopleSoft Financial System and HUD systems.
  • Ensure departmental revenue (“program income”) is properly recorded in the City’s and HUD’s financial management systems.
  • Perform other Accounts Receivable functions, including tracking revenue, issuing invoices and corresponding with customers
  • Maintain various financial schedules and ledgers.
  • Prepare financial reports required by HUD and assist with annual audits.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the position.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years experience of which at least two (2) years must be in accounting or financial analysis. A Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred. Appropriate educational substitutions may be made.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State, and local grant financial management preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of common office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
  • Familiarity with the Financial Management Systems ( e.g. PeopleSoft) and HUD financial systems (IDIS, eLOCCS) preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job. 

 

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
