The mission of the City of Boston Property Management Department (PMD) is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.
Brief Job Description:
Under the direction of the Chief Power Plant Engineer, the Maintenance Mechanic (Building Systems) will perform a variety of work to maintain building systems for all City-owned buildings and locations under the care and custody of the Property Management Department, including heating and cooling, and provide front-line troubleshooting of issues as they arise.
The Maintenance Mechanic (Building Systems) is responsible for operating equipment in a power plant operating at less than 15 psi, general repairs to heating and cooling equipment, and coordinating with HVAC technicians, Elevator Technicians, Fire and Life Safety Technicians, Generator Technicians, and other trades to ensure the smooth and constant operation of critical building systems:
