Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

 

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION (essential functions of the job):

 

Under general supervision, directly supervises a group of plumbers and other skilled and semiskilled workers engaged primarily in the installation and maintenance of water system equipment, steam lines, and
plumbing fixtures; and does related work as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assigns, supervises and checks rough or finished plumbing  work and general repairs and maintenance to buildings and equipment.
  • Supervises and occasionally engages in the repairing and installation of plumbing fixtures and equipment.
  • Makes repairs to sinks, water closets, fountains, irrigation systems, heating systems, piping, water and drain systems and related plumbing work
  • Ability to make rough sketches and lay out work for others.
  • Keeps time records of subordinates and makes progress reports of work done.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

This position is open to employees of the Parks and Recreation Department in accordance with the provisions
of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 31. as well as external applicants

Applicant must have  A.) at least two (2) years of paid experience as a plumber of which  B.) at least one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.  Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on details as required by the job.

Employment Site: Working out of Franklin Park Maintenance Facility as assigned.

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.

 

MASS DRIVER LICENSE REQUIRED.

 

C.O.R.I check required.
