Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Reporting to the Unit Manager or other assigned supervisor, performs clerical, information, data management and other office functions requiring a high degree of judgment and adherence to specific regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides information and assistance regarding real estate, personal property, motor vehicle and boat taxes and related collecting and assessing matters to the public and other City employees.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports and handles telephone, mail and over the counter inquiries.
  • Manages files, records and electronic databases.
  • Performs research and related projects.
  • Operates office equipment including personal computers.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of clerical, information, and data management experience required; appropriate educational substitutions may be accepted for two years of this experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of real estate valuation, abatements and exemptions, and motor vehicle and boat excise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and the public in person, by telephone and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a personal computer environment, using word processing, database and other application software.
  • Ability to plan, organize and perform multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, to take initiative, to accept responsibility, and to work as part of a team.

 

City of Boston residency required

 

Terms:

Union/Salary Plan/Grade:  SEIU/RL-14

35 hours per week
