Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, plans, develops, and manages software applications.  Develops and coordinates technical projects with other units, divisions, departments and external entities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support for a wide range of business applications and hardware across the Assessing Division including deployment, support, maintenance, desk top support, and monitoring where required.
  • Responsible for day-to-day administrative duties, up to including; configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and monitoring for systems such as Windows Active Directory, Servers and SQL Databases and other operational systems as needed.
  • Assists in planning for office growth, while documenting all tasks and gathering requirements.
  • Continually monitors environment to ensure beset practices and City and State guidelines are being followed.
  • Assists with employee onboarding / off boarding, laptop & desktop imaging, workstation set up and initial user training on department applications.
  • Prepares reports and documentation, carries out special projects, and represents units and department's goals and initiatives outside of the department.
  • Performs duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least four (4) years’ of full time or equivalent part time, professional experience in administration of computers or related field. Educational substitutions may be made for this experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating System, MS SQL server, Active Directory, group policy and command language preferred.
  • Familiarity with Google G Suite preferred.
  • Quest KACE System Imaging & Software Deployment toll/Support & Administration (Desktops & Laptops) preferred
  • Beyond Trust Bomgar Remote Support Appliance/ Support & Administration preferred
  • Familiarity with aided mass appraisal (CAMA) systems, GIS/geospatial systems, and workflow tracking systems, preferred.
  • Demonstrated project management, systems management and development skills experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills, preferred.
  • Must have the ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Demonstrated skill in written communication, including technical documentation, oral communication and presentation preferred.
  • Analytic skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on details as required by the job.

 

City of Boston Residency Required.

 

Terms:

Union/Salary/Plan/Grade:SENA-- MM1-8 

Hours per week: 35
