Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

 

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Under the supervision of an employee of a higher grade, the Public Works Hokey performs entry level work with a focus on cleaning sidewalks and gutters.

Responsibilities:

Assigned to various districts to clean sidewalks and gutters of debris. May clean other public areas as requested. May be involved in Public Works Department operations in adverse weather conditions.

 

Performs related work as required.

 

Required to work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to learn the use of tools and procedures necessary to perform assigned tasks.

Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.

 

Boston Residency Required

 

Terms:

 

Union/Salary Plan/Grade:   AFSCME/RA1-5

Hours per week:   40
