Brief Job Description:

The City of Boston is seeking to hire a Labor Relations Analyst/Hearing Officer/Paralegal in its Office of Labor Relations. Reporting to the Director of Labor Relations, the Labor Relations Analyst/Hearing Officer/Paralegal schedules and conducts grievance hearings, analyzes evidence and issues written decisions. 

• Conducts grievance hearings, analyzes evidence and issues written decisions.
• Performs research and special projects in support of the office's litigation and collective bargaining cases.
• Complies documents using proprietary data base systems and other resources and maintaining collective bargaining files. 
• General office support, including phones, greeting visitors, schedule hearings, and maintain files.
• Performs related work as required.

• At least three (3) years of fulltime, or equivalent part-time, experience in labor or employee relations, collective bargaining or related field.
• A bachelor's degree from a recognized school may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. A master's degree in labor relations, public or business administration, personnel management or related field may be substituted for the required experience.
• Highly motivated self-starter.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
• Strong oral and written skills, strong organizational skills, and competence with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. 
• Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
• Studying toward Juris Doctorate Degree a plus.

Residency in the City of Boston is required.
