Overview:

This is a provisional appointment.

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

Under general supervision with latitude for independent judgment, performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical functions of moderate difficulty as designated by the Payroll Supervisor. 

 

Responsibilities:

Responsible for all payroll functions, which include but are not limited to: time and labor reporting, prior period adjustments, salary adjustments, vacation and sick leave reporting, salary adjustments, and data entry. 

Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of all payroll records. 

Answers questions and provides information to employees regarding payroll-related matters and/or refers them to appropriate personnel. 

Prepares reports on payroll activities as requested by supervisor. 

Assists supervisor with the city of Boston attendance program. 

Performs related work as required.


Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

Applicants must have three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional or technical experience in management analysis, procedures analysis, methods analysis, work simplification, or value analysis, or any equivalent combination of such experience and acceptable educational substitutions.  Direct payroll experience is preferred.  Ability to handle a variety of tasks and to meet tight deadlines is preferred.  Good organization, computer and writing skills are required.  Experience in using PeopleSoft payroll system a plus.  Ability to exercise good judgment and able to focus on detail as required by the job.

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.
