Overview:

Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):

 

Under general supervision of the Supervisor of Accounts for the Division's Payroll/General Services Program

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation of financial reporting; analyzes, compares and interprets financial data and statements.
  • Performs support in analyzing, creating and developing written reports as it pertains to the areas of investment, banking, accounting, payroll, accounts payable and account receivable. 
  • Responsible in assisting with problem resolution as well as the monitoring workflow processes for compliance, reporting and communicating any deficiencies in processes. 
  • Participates in testing modifications and upgrades associated with applicable financial modules.
  • Creates financial reports using PeopleSoft for internal use.  
  • Assists in the overseeing  the resolution of special projects as assigned as required. 
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of accounting and/or finance experience. 
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. An associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
  • Experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft applications preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated.
  • Proficient in applying accounting and finance skills when completing projects and procedures.
  • Capable of monitoring and completing a variety of project simultaneously.
    Proficient in Microsoft Applications: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently while in compliance with workflow process as established by department procedures.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Knowledge of how payroll, account payable and account receivable receipts and disbursements procedures apply to the accounting process.
  • Drive for results and leadership in problem resolution preferred.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job

 

BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED.

 

Terms:

Union/Salary Plan/Grade:  SENA/MM1-6
